Everyone involved needs to relax, calm down, and consider the scenario with a balanced mind.
There are a few things that I need to point out.
- First off, don't blame @skyfan_x2_ for not doing anything. The rank Snapper is for people who participated in the selfie contest. They aren't staff members so they can't actually stop people from grief.
- Second, even though there were staff members online, they were either AFK or not watching chat. This means that both parties involved were unmonitored by staff members during the dilemma which allowed it to escalate.
- Since this seems to be a first time offense, I would recommend that the temporary bans be reduced to less than 7 days. (Strictly Speaking This Is Normally Against The Server Policy of Zero Tolerance Towards Grief.)
I will be on later today to inspect the areas involved in the grief. I will use /prism to validate everything on top of the screenshots provided. It's somewhat my own fault for having @MACMAN add the prism plugin and then not explain it to myself to the other staff members.
From this point forward I think it would be wise to require a whitelist requirement that states that the format needs to be unique, orderly, and includes the Player's IGN and Agreement of the rules. If these requirements aren't met then they need to redo the application.
The reason I state the above is that I've noticed an incredibly large amount of posts that are essentially a copy and paste of the format that @MACMAN provided as an example. While the applications are being accepted, it seems that players may not be fully understanding the rules and regulations in the sticky post.
I believe that reducing whitelist intakes is more favorable than being stricter on players for first time offenses. If players don't start following the rules however, I'm perfectly fine with permanently banning rule breakers.
